The Tully River is an integral part of clean, green energy production, thanks to the operations of the 88 MW Kareeya Hydro.

They vary the water release time pending capacity, production and volume which means we vary our Tully rafting itinerary in line with them.

This ensures you’ll have the very best possible rafting experience.

No experience necessary, our River Guides have got you covered. It’s a full day out with departures from Cairns, Mission Beach and Feluga.

What To Bring:

Swimwear, towel, change of dry clothes, secure footwear such as sandshoes or adventure sandals (no thongs), waterproof sunscreen, cap to wear under helmet (optional). Hire shoes available for $5 if you don’t want your shoes getting wet. Thermal tops and dry tops available for $5 for hire each. Also bring your voucher and money for additional refreshments and purchase of any digital photos you may like as an awesome reminder of your epic adventure.

Please leave jewellery and valuables at your accommodation.


Barron River Rafting

The beautiful Barron Gorge National Park is only 20 minutes from the centre of Cairns.

It’s known for its rugged rainforest mountains, steep ravines, the mighty Barron Falls and of course, Barron Gorge, which has been carved out over thousands of years by the Barron River.

This is where we do our half-day white water rafting tour, on the ebb and flow of the Barron River, as it snakes its way down from the mountains and heads out to the Coral Sea. This is a scenic rafting/rainforest adventure that combines calm water floating with a series of white water rapids for adventure and action.

The Barron River Half Day Tour is a fantastic introduction to White Water Rafting. It’s fun, exciting and exhilarating, suitable for all the family*. Enjoy up to two hours rafting, on up to grade 3 rapids followed by tea & coffee while you view photos of your rafting adventure. Access to changing facilities at the end of the tour are available for Raging Thunder guests.

Our rafts carry up to seven passengers plus your river guide. No experience necessary.

The Tully River has earned an international reputation as Australia’s best rafting river.

Enjoy awesome grade 3 & 4 rapids, amongst the spectacular scenery on this adrenalin-pumping adventure. Experience is not necessary. A sense of adventure is!

The Tully River hosted the International Rafting Federation’s 2019 World Rafting Championships. This world class river provides a pinnacle rafting experience, with over 45 rapids ripping down through the stunning rainforest gorge surrounds. Classified as a Grade 4/5 river, the Tully provides one hell of a wild ride which ticks all the boxes for those seeking the ultimate Australian rafting adventure!

Your day begins with a morning pick up from your Cairns or Mission Beach accommodation before enjoying the scenic drive to our Tully base at the Feluga Hotel. You’ll have the chance to grab a quick bite here if you missed breakfast before we meet up with any self drivers and travel to the top of the Tully Gorge.

DAY 1 – OCEAN RAFTING NORTHERN EXPOSURE OR SOUTHERN LIGHTS TOUR

Multi award winning Ocean Rafting visits the “Wild Side” of the Whitsunday Islands, the uninhabited islands with beautiful natural scenery brimming with marine, bird and animal life. There are two exciting tour options, the Northern Exposure and Southern Lights. Each Ocean Rafting day offers three days in one, including an exhilarating ride to Whitehaven Beach and Hill Inlet, pristine snorkelling reefs and guided Whitsunday Island National Parks walks. Ocean Rafting offers the ultimate access to the stunning and iconic Hill Inlet beach and special snorkel sites at Hook Island and Border Island ensure a memorable underwater experience.

The semi rigid inflatable vessels are super fast allowing guests to experience a fun ride, adventure and education amongst the natural beauty of the Whitsundays. 32 passengers at most allows for personal snorkelling lessons and the pleasure of a small group. A tropical lunch is served at the beach with plenty of time to swim in the turquoise ocean or just relax on the silica white sand.

The Northern Exposure tour is a favourite amongst avid snorkellers, including two different snorkel destinations. Not only that, but it includes a visit to the stunning beach at Hill Inlet, north end of Whitehaven Beach, and a guided National Park walk to the lookout above the silica sand of Whitehaven. Guests explore the restricted area of beautiful Hill Inlet at Whitehaven Beach.

The Southern Lights tour visits both the northern and southern ends of Whitehaven Beach. Enjoy approximately two hours relaxing on the world famous white silica sand and enjoy a guided bushwalk to spectacular Hill Inlet Lookout to view and capture photographs of the stunning swirling silica sands and aqua water. Snorkel for over an hour at Border Island, Dumbell Island or one of our “secret” snorkel spots, enjoying the amazing hard and soft corals of the fringing reefs.

The main difference between Ocean Rafting’s two tours is that the Northern Exposure offers more snorkelling time and the Southern Lights has more beach time.

DAY 2 –*WHITSUNDAY JETSKI TOURS’ TWO ISLAND SAFARI*

A great tour for the more adventurous traveller who wants to maximise their time on the water. Explore the beautiful Whitsunday Islands including the scenic waterways around Daydream and South Molle Islands while pausing for photos, power snacks and the occasional marine life encounter.

Cairns Riverboarding Half Day Tour

Just a short 15min drive from Cairns, we take you to the mighty Barron River in amongst the tropical rainforest. Barron Gorge National Park, is well known as one of two White Water Rafting hotspots around Cairns over a challenging grade 3 white-water… If you have already been White Water Rafting before, River Boarding is your next adventure!

Please allow up to 4.5hrs for the whole experience from start to finish, every day is a little different, depends on weather, road conditions & fun!

The Tully River is a world class river providing a pinnacle rafting experience with a tonne of rapids ripping down through the stunning rainforest gorge surrounds. Classified as a Grade 4/5 river, the Tully provides one hell of a wild ride which ticks all the boxes for those seeking the ultimate Australian rafting adventure!

Your day begins with a late morning pick up from your Cairns or Mission Beach accommodation before enjoying the scenic drive to Tully. Here we’ll rendezvous with self drivers and you’ll have the chance to grab some lunch (own cost) before we travel to the top of the Tully Gorge.

You’ll be fitted with a helmet and life jacket and receive a comprehensive safety briefing then it’s time to hit the rapids! Navigating your way through big drops and big water you’ll soon see why the Tully has earned its reputation as an epic white water rafting river! And the spectacular scenery is also something to behold.

Once we arrive at out take out point, change into dry clothes and jump on the bus for the short drive to the iconic Feluga Hotel. Here you’ll enjoy a hearty country pub dinner with your Guide and crew, share river stories over a couple of coldies all the while immersed in a living history of over 30 years of rafting on the Tully River.

Afterwards enjoy a well earned rest on the bus as we take you back to your accommodation.


Wild Creek 'Sport Rafting' Day Tour ex Mission Beach

You will be part of a small, blessed group of people to witness this natural wonder.  The scenery  will captivate you, the ride will thrill you and the experience will change you.

The creek winds through magnificent 411 million year old untouched rainforests, landscaped by giant granite boulders, cliff overhangs, waterfalls and crystal clear mountain water. Half way along, we come to Wine Glass falls, where the creek flows into a waterfall to a deep green  pool at the base of a gorge.  Relax & chill out at the top of the falls, soaking in the awe inspiring scenery.  Swim, play, laugh and on we go, cliff jump into the gorge (or walk to the base), followed by your raft, jump back in, paddle under the waterfall and the exhilarating ride continues.
