This 3.15 hour (2.5 hours cruising time) encounter takes you to the three islands top snorkelling spots in the ruggedly spectacular, Shoalwater Islands Marine Park, to experience the best of the local marine life, above and below the water.

The comfortable vessel allows for safety and enjoyment, as you dive in to discover this incredible marine park beneath the surface. Enjoy a gourmet grazing platter, including a delicious array of seafood selections as you cruise. Dietary requirements can be catered to (please notify Reservations Staff).

Look out for wild bottlenose dolphins, explore limestone reefs and rocky outcrops, meet the local marine bird life and frolic with the rarest sealions in the world. All equipment is provided and our highly trained and experienced crew will introduce you to snorkeling with an emphasis on safety and environmental awareness, so you can make the most of your wild encounter in wild luxury. They will also point out the best wildlife spotting opportunities of the day. Wild dolphins, rare Australian sea lions, pelican rookeries, and birds of prey are regularly sighted and our friendly crew will get you right amongst the action!

We provide wetsuits, mask and snorkels, fins, and floatation devices. We have a large, comfortable and safe vessel. Our crew are qualified professionals with a passion for the ocean and our playful sealion friends!

The cruise concludes at Mersey Point (mainland jetty).

What to Bring:

  • Gourmet style platters including local fresh seafood are served on board, however, you’re welcome to bring your own food and drinks or pick up your supplies from Pengos Cafe next door to the Visitor Centre once you are checked in (Pengos can have <15-minute wait times so please allow enough time in your schedule). We recommend bringing a warm, weather proof jacket as it can be cold on the boat and Penguin Island, even in the summer months.
  • Comfortable shoes, thongs or sandals are appropriate footwear, a water bottle and a towel. If you plan on swimming or snorkeling, bring your swimmers, hats and sunscreen. Wetsuits and snorkeling equipment are provided, and you will be fitted on the grassed area where briefing is held. You may also bring your own rash vest, wetsuit or snorkeling gear. There is a toilet on board and public toilets on the mainland at Shoalwater where you can get changed.

Snorkel with Turtles at Mudjimba Island

Our trip to the Mudjimba Island reefs is a two hour trip, where you first meet at our dive shop at The Wharf Mooloolaba.

Snorkelers will have an in-water snorkel guide to both assist you with your snorkeling skills, and to show you some of the reef’s residents. The locals of the reef includes turtles, wobbegongs, rays, nudibranchs, and many types of reef fish.

Mask, snorkel, fins, and a wet suit is included in the pricing of the trip for snorkelers.

Children under 8 are not permitted on board.

This is also in open water and we suggest that you look into seasickness medication to minimize the chance of it impacting your experience.

Julian Rocks Marine Sanctuary is rated as one of the best dive sites in Australia. “Nguthungulli” the local Arakwal name for this incredible place, offers protected safe and shallow waters perfect for snorkelling and freediving. Sitting off the most easterly point of Australia, Julian rocks is a convergence point of warm tropical and cooler temperate waters, making it a marine wildlife hotspot!

Whales, Dolphins, Manta Rays, Leopard Sharks, Grey Nurse Sharks and Turtles are all common visitors. Its a perfect environment for snorkelling and freediving with prolific fish life and multiple areas to explore.
