Day 1
Departing from Sydney: So we all arrive early at the pickup location a short stroll from central train station almost straight away after departing we drive over the magnificent Sydney Harbour Bridge as we relax into our seats for the couple hours drive out of Sydney to the beautiful Port Stephens. First stop is the quiet township of Anna Bay where we can stretch our legs overlooking the 32km long Stockton beach towards Newcastle. Our first activity is sand boarding the nearby sand dunes but that is after the fun 15 min off road drive through the dunes to get to the best dune of the area. After receiving some advice and instruction you grab a board and get into it, we suggest starting off sitting and work your way up to surfing the sand.

Nelson Bay: Next we head a short 15 minute drive into Nelson Bay for a quick stop for the driver to pickup the groceries for the BBQ lunch (please inform driver in advance if you are vegetarian/vegan/other) and the customers may purchase alcohol to store in the bus esky/cooler if they wish. We then head to the waters edge to either board the dolphin cruise or have some beach time. The dolphin cruise is approx 90 minutes in duration in the closed waters of beautiful Port Stephens. The boat tour has a really good success rate of spotting dolphins and offers the chance to jump in the side boomnet for a swim….oh and complimentary tea and coffee. Please be aware this optional extra is $20, payable to Coast Warriors guide on tour. If you have already seen dolphins or boats aren’t your thing then feel free to chill out with some free time at the nearby beaches or checkout the village shops and cafes. Please be aware that your guide will remain on land to prepare the bbq lunch for after the dolphin cruise returns.

Mt Tomaree: We then jump back on the bus and take a short 10 minute drive along the waters edge to the base of Mt Tomaree where we will have some beach time firstly. We go spend sometime at a cool little hidden beach with never more than 20 or so people on the entire beach…often it is just us. Here we can lay in the sun, play with the volleyball, get those Insta selfies and obviously jump in the waves. At some stage we get our things together and most of us head up to the top of the adjacent Mt Tomaree. This walk isn’t going to kill you, being only about 20 minutes along the path and steps through the bush to get to the top. Once at the top you will be amazed by the multiple viewpoints ultimately offering 360 degree views over the entire area. Depending on time and other variable we sometimes can stay here during daylight savings to watch the sun go down….so beautiful! Though this can’t always happen, we try to be somewhere real cool for sunset.

Heading to our bush accommodation: We then head to our bush accommodation briefly stopping at a Woolworths grocery shop with connected bottle shop. Here you may grab yourself any snacks or breakfast that you may wish to store in the fridges at the accommodation. Obviously you may also grab any alcohol that you may wish for the evening too. So the Eco lodging is best described as dorm style bedding in wooden lodges within the bush. The hostel also offers a full kitchen, normal toilets, hot showers, a large enclosed common room with big tables great for card games/beer pong, large outdoor social patio and the area also has some resident kangaroos. If you wish to go chill on the nearby beach and checkout the stars, it is only a short 5 min walk. We have pizzas delivered to the common room or beach approximately 7:30pm….after that the night is yours to do what you want (bring a speaker/cards/ping pong ball set).

Day 2
The next morning is a bit of a free morning with many options to consider: – Sleep in till lunchtime…not recommended – Get up early to go watch the sunrise at the nearby beach (One Mile Beach-5 min walk). – Many may wish to jump on the bus and drive (5 mins) over to Anna Bay to have a camel ride on the beach ($25 payable to Coast Warriors guide on tour though please let your guide know the evening before). – You may choose to join on the bus to Anna Bay to have a ‘smashed ave on toast’ at the popular beach side cafe, it has many food and drink options. – Walk over to One Mile beach cafe for brekky – Hire a board and go hit the waves at One Mile Beach or simply swim, sun bake and relax. – 90 minute surf lessons from licensed instructor ($65 to $75 depending on numbers)

We do kindly ask that prior to leaving for Anna Bay/beach that you place your bed sheets in the laundry bins and pack your personal belongings

Lunch, then head to Wildlife Park: Around lunchtime we all meet back at the BBQ area for a hot BBQ lunch different from the previous day. After lunch we load the bus up and head towards Sydney. About halfway back we stop over at a cool wildlife park for all of Australia’s native wildlife. At the park we have the chance to get photos up close with koalas and even touch the during a private viewing (included). You can also hand feed kangaroos and emus as they roam free in the guest area of the park. There is wallabies, dingoes, birds, a massive croc, cute quokkas, snakes, spiders and pretty much all of it.

Back to Sydney: After the wildlife park we finalise our journey back to Sydney generally arriving around 5pm, give or take an hour. Many hang round for a nearby pub or sushi dinner together with their new mates, though it all depends on how big of a weekend you had :)”
