Step aboard the legendary Derwent Hunter and learn about the maritime cultural heritage and history of Queensland whilst exploring the bays and Islands of the Whitsundays until sunset and witness the beauty of the twilight.
We are excited to bring you a lazy traditional Tallship experience each afternoon, slipping into the sunset and twilight on the beautiful Tallship DERWENT HUNTER.
Taking it easy, we may only put up a staysail whilst you learn about the Maritime heritage and history of Cape Yorks Aboriginal, Torres Strait Islander and South Sea Islander people and their tales of pearling, blackbirding, missionaries and pirates and the story of Australia’s worst maritime disaster that destroyed a pearling fleet and killed more than 300 crew. On our way back into Port you will see the view of the legendary sunset, followed by twilight colours of Airlie Beach.
Tours will depart each afternoon at approximately 1645 hours (4.45pm), and undertake a short traditional sail out to the bays of Airlie Beach before shortening sails and opening the bar. Arriving back just before last light (end of the twilight), you’ll have plenty of time to enjoy the evening ashore. (Currently around 6.45pm)

Sail on a 75-year-old tall ship and enjoy three hours of sailing around the bays of the Whitsunday Islands whilst enjoying traditional damper, native foods and morning tea treats.
Ever wondered what it was like to sail on a 75 year old traditional tall ship whilst enjoying a sumptuous morning tea? Learn traditional sailing hands-on or sit back and watch our experienced crew whilst for three hours of traditional sailing around the bays of the Whitsunday Islands.
Our Aboriginal, Torres Strait Islander and South Sea Islander crew will take you back in time with tales of pearling and Blackbirding, missionaries and pirates. You’ll learn a different perspective of before Captain Cook’s arrival with presentations on outrigger canoes and headhunting in the Torres Strait and how Saltwater connects us all in unique ways.
Enjoy a sumptuous morning tea of native foods, traditional dampers, fruits, tea and coffee and bush tucker iced-teas. You can even get to taste the famous Green Ant Marmalade on our wattle seed and coconut damper fresh out of the oven. For those in need our licensed bar opens at 10am.

The traditional timber tall ship Derwent Hunter sails the Whitsundays on Thursdays and Saturdays, exploring lesser known destinations around Hook Island. Come snorkelling and enjoy some beach time on a deserted island with us.
Sail the legend, Derwent Hunter, to the northern bays of the Whitsunday Islands. After a delicious morning tea, visit the private mooring at the first of our two stops for the day. We visit sheltered bays near Hook Island, where customers can snorkel straight from the beach, and explore the shoreline of the island.
Many lucky customers get the once in a lifetime experience of swimming with turtles. During the winter months, whales sightings are quite common. Humpback whales and pilot whales visit the Whitsundays every year from approximately June – September.
Return to the vessel for a hearty lunch, before helping to raise the sails and sail back to shore across the Whitsunday Passage, with a cold beer or wine in hand, from our licensed bar.

Step aboard the Tall Ship Derwent Hunter for an afternoon of traditional sailing and become crew with hands-on sailing (or sit back and relax) to the sound of the ship under the power of the wind and a licensed bar and Saltwater Club treats
We are excited to bring you an afternoon of traditional sailing in the Whitsundays from April where guests can become crew for the afternoon and help hoist the sails, trim the main or sit back and relax whilst others do the hard work. Great for those wanting a traditional sailing adventure without the full-day commitment. Setting sail just after lunch, the ship will commence a broad reach out for just over an hour each way out and then back again, enjoying a great afternoon of traditional sailing. We’ll have you back in time to freshen up for dinner and one of Airlie’s great local restaurants.

A day on Lady Enid is all about you, sailing a beautiful Australian rare classic yacht, delectable food and a relaxed time frame.
Your booking includes pick up and transfer back to your Airlie Beach accommodation. Lady Enid departs from Coral Sea (Abell Point) Marina / South End / M arm where your adventure with elegance is to begin.
A Lady Enid day cruise includes:
- A Lady Enid crew person will greet you at your accommodation and transfer you to Coral Sea Marina.
- Once the sails are set, morning tea will be served amongst the Whitsunday Islands. Fresh coffee, a beautiful selection of teas, hot chocolate and a fresh selection traditional morning tea favourites to delight a variety of tastebuds.
- A snorkelling spot on one of the Whitsunday Island Reefs will ensure for a wonderful experience.
- Lady Enid will arrive at Tongue Bay, where you can walk to the lookout to view the beautiful swirling white sands and turquoise waters of Hill Inlet and then proceed down to Betty’s Beach at Whitehaven.
- Lunch is served on return to Lady Enid, a locally produced gourmet menu.
- As we sail back in style into the sunset a complimentary glass of sparkling and antipasto platter will be served.
- Transfer back to your accommodation.

For a day of relaxation, snorkelling, sailing and chilling on deck on a beautiful gaff-rigged schooner from yesteryear. Spend an hour and a half relaxing on Whitehaven Beach. Option to spend the entire charter on Whitehaven Beach which allows much more time. Or snorkel at one of the best snorkelling spots in the Whitsundays – Dumbbell Island. Add your own menu. We are fully licensed and can also organise a tab with special requests or prepaid alcohol packs.
Morning tea is served as we sail through Hook Passage. Lunch is served on board (unless you opt for longer on Whitehaven in which case picnic lunch on the beach) then an afternoon fruit platter and cheese before heading homeward as the sun goes down.

Terms
You must pay 50% of the charter price at the time of booking. The remaining 50% must be paid before the charter sails. You will get the option to move to another date if we cancel due to weather or a full refund.
